Bring work gloves and gardening tools to help with planting Saturday, November 20, at Riverdale Park. The City of Germantown is hosting a planting day beginning at 8 a.m. around the new playground at 7345 Neshoba Road.
“We are looking for volunteers of every age to plant materials around Everybody’s Tree House,” said Sherrye Rhea, neighborhood coordinator. “Bring your gloves, wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and you’ll be ready to dig in the dirt.”
More than 500 native plants will be planted during the event. “These one-gallon to three-gallon plants have been chosen specifically for this area. We’ll plant hardy, native plants which require little water,” Rhea added.
Volunteers are asked to register by November 18 by contacting Sherrye Rhea at (901) 757-7203 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers will be assigned to work on specific planting teams.
Plantings will be around Everybody’s Tree House, a model playground combining nature and play. Everybody’s Tree House is inclusive for people of all abilities.
